Finding the perfect modern door handles in Kuwait isn’t an easy process. I was trying to find the most elegant and artistic door handles for my home. I went to a lot of stores in Kuwait, but I didn’t find what I have in mind until I saw JNF products for the first time. JNF is a Portuguese company that makes door handles, Hinges, Furniture Hardware, and other accessories. The quality of the built is really impressive, especially for the full steel ones. The one I am showing above is the one I got for my main entrance door, and everyone who saw it loved it.
Makers Inc in Kuwait is the main supplier for JNF products in Kuwait. This is the second time I buy from them, and once you buy from them, you will get the orders very fast. Check out JNF Products
Few days ago, Switch Al-Babtain released new LG TV’s in Kuwait. All of the new models released are from 2020 and so far there isn’t anything from 2021. The interesting part is that they didn’t release any OLED TV. If you check their instagram comment section, most people are asking about LG CX OLED TV, but they kept saying that it isn’t available. Now the concern is whether they will release the new line of OLED TV’s such as C1, G1, BX, CX, GX, ZX and those are the ones that people are waiting for. I am waiting for my new gaming room to be ready to order LG CX 77 from B&H. The great part is that the shipping from B&H is really affordable. The cost of shipping form the US is $450 for the 77 inch TV. The first thing that will come to mind is the US voltage, and I was told by a lot of people that it is dual voltage. Even if you see that it isn’t dual voltage on the TV spec, some people tested it here in Kuwait and it worked without a transformer. If anyone is reluctant then you can use a voltage transformer to be on the safe side. If Switch Al-Babtain decides not to sell LG OLED TV’s then they will be missing a very big opportunity, because a lot of people are reluctant to buy a TV from UAE or the US and they will be buying the new Sony OLED TV’s that will be released later this year.
Update: Just confirmed with a salesperson at LG Al-Babtain that they will sell LG OLED TV’s in 2-3 months. Finally !
Few weeks ago I got three samples of Sara Cake Lasagna. The samples were beef, chicken, and vegetables lasagnas. I got really excited when I saw that Chef Zeyad Hamadah was the one who created all three lasagnas. I have heard of Chef Zeyad Hamadah from friends of mine and that he is one of the best chefs in Kuwait. The first lasagna I tried was the beef lasagna, and when i first opened it. I had to decide between using the oven or microwave. Since I had the choice of using any of the options, I decided to use the oven since I had enough time to spare. Sadly I left it in the oven more than what it suppose to and the Lasagna became a bit dry, but still I ate it. It was OK, and I think it had more cheese than what I personally prefer.
The second day I decided to eat the vegetable lasagna and this time I used the microwave. I honestly never expected that I would enjoy a vegetable lasagna that much. I just regret using the microwave because when the cheese on top becomes golden color, the cheese tastes much better. I personally rank the vegetable lasagna as the best one among the three and right now it is my favorite frozen lasagna in the market
The third day I ate the chicken lasagna. The cheese was perfect for me because I used the oven this time. The chicken lasagna in my opinion was better than the beef lasagna. My judgement could be clouded with the beef lasagna because I left it in the oven more than what it suppose to so i think I should give it another shot and update the article.
Sara Cake has been innovative the past few years and the collaboration with Kuwaiti Chefs is a really genius idea. I support such initiatives especially when I see local companies are supports local talents.
The last few days, a lot of my friends are talking about two places. The first place is a burger restaurant called Thinnies which became really popular in Kuwait. I was really surprised to see a burger concept becoming that popular during these times where there are so many burger joints in the market. When I check Talabat or Deliveroo, I get lost from the amount of burger joints, so they should have something special to be that trendy in Kuwait. The second place is a place we all know, but never thought they will ever sell a sandwich. Le Relais de l’Entrecôte, which is the steak concept located at Salhiya and Murooj and now they are selling baguette sandwiches with the steak, fries, and their popular green sauce. A lot fo my friends told me to try it ASAP before they remove it from the menu, so I went to Salhiya right after they opened. They open at 7 PM, and I was there exactly at 7:05 PM. I couldn’t believe that there were so many cars ahead of me. It was really creative to turn a dine in steak restaurant to a to go sandwich place. I ordered a baguette sandwich with extra sauce on the side. The sandwich was good, but I felt the ratio was a bit off where it had slightly more bread that what it suppose to. The other thing was I wished I ordered the sauce on the side, so I add the sauce before I eat, because part of the bread became soggy by the time I arrived home. I highly recommend getting extra sauce because it made it much better. It was worth trying, but it isn’t something that I will be addicted to.
This is a trending topic all across the world after where people are buying physical silver and storing it until the price increases multiple folds. I don’t know when will silver increase, but I believe it will eventually happen in the next few years. My main reason is the historical prices of silver where it was much more expensive back in 1980 than today. It used to be $120 an ounce during the peak back in 1980 and today it is around $27 an ounce. Considering all the inflation in the world, this is the only product that didn’t inflate. When I saw the historical prices, I decided to go to the market and shop around. I never bought gold or silver in Kuwait, so I had no clue where to buy it. When I was living in the US, I used to buy gold and silver from Apmex as collectables. It is my favorite website to buy gold and silver. I like their designs a lot, which was the main driver for me to collect them. I went to Kuwait Central Gold Market and I was going from one store to another to ask about the prices. I walked into one of the stores and there was an old man buying silver bars, so I asked him what is going on with silver. He held 1 Kilogram bar and he told me, this is much better than Game Stop stock, buy it and you won’t regret it. He convinced me to buy, so I bought few bars and some of my family members did the same. Each Kilogram was selling for 285-287 KD. The next day my brother went, and he barely found 1 Kilogram and they told him people bought the entire silver in Kuwait Central Gold Market. They told him other places might have it, but they don’t know any as of their knowledge. He bought what they claimed to be the last bar at 313 KD, and on the same day. Prices of silver jumped 11% reaching 8 years high, but dropped again 7% the next day. I went again today, and the same stores that told my brother they didn’t have any, they said they now have and willing to sell at 285-290 KD. I believe they were holding the stock because of the massive demand, but since prices dropped the following day, they let go of their stock. The interesting thing I saw today is that lots of people old and young are buying silver bars. The store owners were asking me what is going on with silver that made such amount of people to come and buy. I never expected the posts on Wall Street Bets to increase the demand of silver in Kuwait that much.
I have been trying lots of shawarma places the past few weeks to find the best shawarma in Kuwait. It all started when I heard about Shawarma Shaker, but never got the chance to try it. Few weeks ago I decided to give it a shot, so I tried Shawarma Shaker and it was good. Then I started one place after the other and this is what I tried so far.
Honestly the winner for Meat Shawarma is very clear. Laham Gram is the Best Meat Shawarma in Kuwait and I consider it a WOW. Everyone who tried it said it is a WOW shawarma and the impressive part is that even my family and friends who never eat meat shawarma, loved it. The advantage of Laham Gram is that they offer delivery, even it cost a minimum of 10 KD for delivery it is so worth it.
When it comes to Chicken Shawarma, I didn’t find one that really stands out. The best ones were Shawarma Mishref and Arabi. I won’t consider them a WOW, but they very good shawarmas.
The trend of such shawarmas was started by Shaker Shawarma, the team behind it were very creative and a lot of people I know consider Shaker Shawarma the best so far. This list will be updated all the time, so it will keep changing once I find new shawarma places.
I am getting mixed feedback about iPhone 12. Some want to order it ASAP because their phones are very old and their batteries doesn’t last at all and some won’t upgrade until Apple redesign the iPhone. Having the same exact design as iPhone X isn’t exciting for some users, and they got bored of the design and specifically the notch. Now the question is where to pre-order iPhone 12 from in Kuwait.
The most common option I see is ordering it directly from Apple where they ship it directly to a forwarding address such as PostShipper which is tax free. This option is great because the charges aren’t much, but it lack warranty.
The other option is to buy from one of the local stores in Kuwait.
In the past it was a was complex to report electricity outage to ministry of electricity. I remember I used to call the Badala and ask for the emergency phone number. Today it is much easier where I reported an electricity outage and in less than an hour, electricity was back. The ministry of electricity in Kuwait released an app called MEW 152 and it is very simple to report an outage using this app. Try it out in case you need it.
A lot of people are asking about upgrading their TVs for Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X. The question is how to take advantage of the capabilities of the new consoles. The first thing to keep in mind that both PS5 and Xbox Series X support 4K and 120Hz. Sadly there aren’t many TV’s that support 120Hz right now and especially in Kuwait. HDR 10 is another component that is really important, so don’t miss it out.
If you have a TV that support 4K and 120Hz you must use HDMI 2.1 cable, which a lot of people didn’t know about. Not only that, you have to use the HDMI 2.1 slot in the TV as the other slots could be normal HDMI slots. My favorite TV’s has been always OLED TV’s but there aren’t many options in Kuwait. The best ranked gaming TV isn’t available in Kuwait at all, and I have no clue if they will ever bring it to the market or not. Now we will focus on the best gaming TV’s with 4K or 8K, 120Hz, and HDR10.
LG CX/GX 4K Line
LG CX/GX 77 inch 4K Smart OLED TV is ranked the best gaming TV in the market. This is the TV I really want to buy, and it will be available in Kuwait in 2-3 months. A lot of people are waiting for it to be released, and some already bought it from B&H or UAE. In terms of specs, it is one of the highest specs in the market. I will compare it with the new Sony A90J and decide which one to buy
Sony X900H 4K Line
This is the first line that Sony listed as Playstation 5 ready. This is a more affordable line than the Z8H which comes in 8K. For those who bought the X900H line, the update rolling right now will trigger the 4K 120Hz.
The Z8H is available at Xcite right now, but it is a very expensive. I honestly wouldn’t buy 8K right now, so I will wait for prices to drop before switching to 8K TV’s. I think it will still take few years until it becomes a standard in the market. This is other line that Sony listed as Playstation 5 ready as well.
My friends have been buying TVs from this line. They love it so far, but there is a newer line that isn’t released in Kuwait yet which is the Q80T and Q90T. The Q80T & Q90T are recommended much more than the Q70T. I personally saw them playing on the Q70T and it was really great. If someone wants to buy it, I would say wait few more months until they release the Q80T/Q90T.
Last month I started to look for Canada Dry Cream Soda all over Kuwait. I luckily found it at a store called Hi and Buy on Deliveroo. Each can cost 350 Fils. I bought 24 cans so they delivered 1 full pack of 24 cans. The next day I brought some to my parents house, and my sister in law told me that they sell it at a place called Supplierskw and it cost 200 Fils per can. Yesterday I found lots of packs in AlQadsiya Co-op, so it seems it is available all over Kuwait once again.
