My cousin is facing an issue where his battery for maxed specs Macbook Pro 13″ 2017 is draining so fast. The main issue is that he is living in a country where they don’t have an Apple store. He asked me to find a solution few months ago, but I only found replacement batteries from eBay. Of course I wouldn’t take the risk and buy a nonbranded battery from eBay for safety reasons. Few weeks ago, I found another battery from iFixit, but I had a very bad experience with iFixit battery in the past and wouldn’t take the risk again. OWC MacSales NewerTech Battery is the only battery I would buy, but sadly it doesn’t exist for this model yet. I contacted OWC MacSales customer service, and they told me that they don’t have a plan to release a battery for Macbook Pro 13″ 2017 touchbar so far. The only thing we can do right now is to wait.

After my horrible experience with iFixit battery, I decided to try another battery from Macsales OWC, The battery is called NewerTech 95W NuPower, and this specific one is for 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display (Late 2013 to Mid 2015). This battery is cheaper than the one I bought from iFixit by $20, so it is worth trying it out. It turns out that this battery is really amazing and I don’t face any of iFixit battery issue where the battery read the actual battery percentage and there is no sudden drops from 80% or 70% to %7. Also I no longer face losing the charge when closing the lid. This battery hold the charge for a very long time, and so far it is equivalent to the original Macbook battery when I first bought the laptop.
I am very happy for Macsales OWC, because they always sell high quality products and I have been buying their ssd and ram for Macbook Pro for a very long time.
